1997 Math Challenge

This is a grade 6, all year, challenge, however, the grade 7's may want to try it too!

Using ALL four and ONLY the four digits 1, 9, 9, and 7 each time, form expressions for all the numbers from 1 to 100.  You may use

+, -, x, ÷, and ( ).

If you find an expression that works, bring it to school and put it up on our class poster.  Be sure to initial your work so you get credit!  Have fun!

Mystery Quest Website

The grade 6's and 7's are using a BC created history website to do some investigating into Canadian Historical events.  They are being asked to record interesting information they find.  Use the links below to find the Mystery Quest they are working on.

The purpose of this investigation is to interpret a variety of sources of information (photos, maps, artifacts, text, etc).  The site is like a virtual museum that we are visiting and forming educated opinions about what we think may have happened.

Using Firefly

We will be using the Kurzweil program for some of our assignments.  While at school, the students will  have access to the full program on the laptops.  If they are working at home, they can use Kurzweil's website to have access to the documents we are using.  The website only gives access to read the document.  You will be unable to use the word processing part of the full program.  Use the link below to get to the online program.  You will need your user name and password.

Your task is to create one power point slide that will share with your classmates what happened on the day of your birth.  You can include only your first name and the date of your birth, not the year.  I am looking for at least 5 interesting pieces of history.

Welcome!!

After careful consideration, I have decided to start a new blog.  I hope that the information found here will help each learner to be better able to connect to the work we are doing in class and the digital resources we are experimenting with.
